The 1.6 million acres of the White Mountain Apache Reservation offers a number of different small game hunting experiences for your pleasure. We have exciting quail hunts, excellent duck and goose hunts, and rabbit hunting. Small game permits are available for any of our Reservation permits dealers. Small game permits are sold either by the day or by the year. Quail are located mainly in the western portion of the Reservation. The Reservation is home to both Gambel's and Mearn's quail. Season dates generally run from early October through late January.
Duck and goose hunting is concentrated along the Black and Salt Rivers and the various stock tanks scattered throughout the Reservation. Mallards, redheads, pintails, and Canadian Geese are the species most often encountered. Season dates follow the federal framework and generally run from November through February. A Federal Duck Stamp is required to hunt migratory birds on the Reservation. |
