NEWS RELEASE: Earl Park Lake Permit
Annual Fishing Derby
Welcome to the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. This reservation contains over 1.6 million acres of pristine land. We encourage you to be our guests and fish, camp and recreate. When using the Reservation for the first time, you may want to observe the following:
You do not need State of Arizona permits for Outdoor Recreation Activities on the Reservation. Arizona Hunting and Fishing regulations do not apply to Reservation lands. Reservation permits are required for all Outdoor Activities including fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, river rafting, sightseeing, picnicking, biking, and cross country skiing. Please get your permits before or immediately after entering the Reservation. Permits are easily obtainable from permit dealers and Reservation marinas. Feel free to recreate on all areas of the Reservation that are not "Designated Closed Areas" (see Map). Please obey all signs that you may encounter, what the signs mean are:
CLOSED AREA: This area is closed to all entry. ROAD CLOSED: This area is closed to vehicles to prevent erosion but may entered on foot. SPECIAL PERMIT REQUIRED: These areas are being managed to restrict access and provide a quality experience. You must receive and obtain a special permit before entering this area.
PLEASE OBSERVE THESE CHANGES:
MOTORIZED FLOAT TUBES or RAFTS now require boat permits for use on the Reservation. Non-motorized, single-person rafts or float tubes still do not require a boat permit for use on the Reservation.
FISHING BAG/POSSESSION LIMITS for trout have been changed for SUB-JUVENILES (persons under 10 years of age). Sub-juvenile daily bag/possession limit for trout is now two (2) fish.
CAMPING REGULATIONS prohibit dumping of GREY WATER & BLACK WATER (sewage) in any area that is not a specially designated and approved septic holding facility. This dumping prohibition includes public restroom/toilet facilities.
CHRISTMAS TREE LAKE -FISH CAMP bag limits are now identical to those during the regular season: one(1) Apache trout having a minimum length of 16 inches, or up to five (5) fish in the aggregate.
