Self-Guided West End Archery Elk-General


 

SEASON DATES: October 10 through October 25, 2010.
LEGAL ELK/BAG LIMIT: Cow, Calf, or Spike ONLY. A legal spike is defined as a yearling bull elk exhibiting a single antler beam on the right and left side on the skull without ANY points coming off of either beam.  One (1) per tag.
NUMBER OF PERMITS: 70
PACKAGE COST: $375.00 permit cost, plus $5.00 application fee
PERMIT AVAILABILITY: General archery Elk tags will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis (subject to Hunt Unit limits, above), beginning July 27, 2009, at the Game & Fish Office in Whiteriver. Official Application forms are available online, by mail or fax. Applications must be hand delivered to the Game & Fish Office in Whiteriver. Phoned in, faxed in or mailed in applications will not be accepted.  Applicants may purchase a maximum of three (3) tags. If applicants are unable to purchase tags in person, they may purchased via proxy.  Game & Fish staff members may not purchase or reserve these tags for anyone.
LEGAL TAKING DEVICE:

Any legal bow and arrow as described in R1.B. of the WMAT Hunting Regulations.

Section R1.B ELK

ii.    Bows having a standard pull of 50 or more pounds using arrow with metal broadheads having no less than 7/8-inch width cutting edges.  Mechanical boradheads of any type (broadheads having hinged/rotating blades) are prohibited.

UNITS OPEN TO HUNTING: Units 9 and 11.  Detailed maps of the hunting area will be available at the Game & Fish Office in Whiteriver. 
SPECIAL REGULATIONS: I.   IF YOU WERE BORN AFTER DECEMBER 31, 1960 YOU MUST PRESENT PROOF OF HAVING SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AN APPROVED BASIC HUNTER SAFETY COURSE AT APPLICATION.

II.  PERSONS ENTERING THE RODEO/CHEDISKI BURN AREA FOR THE PURPOSE OF HUNTING DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK.  IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT PERSON HUNTING THIS AREA UTILIZE THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE GROUND FOR INGRESS, EGRESS AND PARKING.  DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING, PERSONS ENTERING THIS AREA FOR THE PURPOSE OF HUNTING SHOULD CONSTANTLY BE AWARE OF CURRENT AND POTENTIAL WEATHER CONDITIONS AND PLAN THEIR TRAVEL ROUTES ACCORDINGLY.  THE W&ORD ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PROPERTY LOSS, DAMAGE OR BODILY HARM INCURRED IN THIS AREA. 

III.  Valid West End Archery General Elk tag holders may also purchase a Mountain Lion Depredation tag Permit.  See section G8.B for details.
