GUIDED - TROPHY ELK HUNTS

2006 - Another Record Year

The Trophy Elk Hunting program of the White Mountain Apache Tribe has been in operation on the 1.6 million acre Reservation since 1976.  Since its inception, the program has been operated by the Wildlife & Outdoor Recreation Division and has developed into the premier trophy elk hunting program in the world, attracting clients from around the globe.  To date, the Wildlife & Outdoor Recreation Division has guided clients to over 100 Rocky Mountain bull elk that now reside in the All-Time Boone & Crockett Record Book - a number greater than that produced by any other comparably sized land management area in the world.

Our Trophy Elk Hunts are conducted during mid-September to early-October each year, which coincides with the peak of the "rut" season.  Each year, we generally provide three successive Trophy Elk hunt sessions being operated out of three separate camps, located in the Northeast, Southeast, and Western portions of the Reservation.  These hunt sessions/packages run 7 days in length.  All of our Trophy Hunt packages are fully-outfitted and include:

BOOKING A HUNT

Based on the program's established reputation for consistently producing record-book quality elk, combined with its accompanying world-wide appeal, demand for White Mountain Trophy Hunt packages remains high.  We continue to book a majority of our hunt packages through returning clients (80%-90% return rate) combined with a "waiting list" that has been in place for several years.  At present, the waiting list remains closed to new names as we continue to work through those that have been on the list for several years.

The first ever "Chairman's Tag" was offered for sale in 2004. These tags are unique in that, while our regular elk hunters are limited to one hunt area and seven hunting days, the Chairman's tags offer the two high bidders an opportunity to hunt the entire Reservation (Maverick, Sunrise, and the West End hunt areas) from September 1 through October 5. A full 35 days of trophy elk hunting at the world's premier trophy elk hunting destination! The September 1 start date is a full 14 days before any of our other trophy hunters arrive! The results from the 2007 Chairman's tags will be posted as soon as the hunts are completed. The 2007 Chairman's Tags will be auctioned at the Safari Club Internantional Convention in January and at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Show in Reno in February. For more details on these very exclusive tags, contact John Caid, the Director of the White Mountain Apache Wildlife and Outdoor Recreation Division, or his assistant, Evalene Tulene, at (928) 338-4385 ext:234.
